Located at 1545 Grimball Rd Ext, James Island, SC. This spacious Home has serenity & unique kind of privacy which places you in the middle of everything and yet above it all. It’s 7 minutes drive from Folly Beach with Island life and only 15 minutes from downtown Charleston with its deep Southern culture. Even with all there is to do, you will love being here tucked in, surrounded by 60′ tree tops, overlooking all. If you have companions, have them look up the “Lazy Susan” 2 bdrm cottage.
The space
A unique place has style all its own with high ceilings, big windows, room to think open thoughts. Inside it’s light, surrounded by tons of 60′ trees, & by bird life, (lots of red birds), all their calls and habits, create a private world above, that you are now in.
There’s a second effect, the spiral staircase or the stronger wide staircase get you here. There’s the terrace, the deck and the porch connecting you with outside. Inside it’s really pleasant. People can feel so comfortable they want to “stay awhile”!
Guest access
You enter either up the front spiral staircase or take your luggage through a common area entry to the back stairway up to The Tree Top Terrace. It’s protected by this huge live Oak between you and the road in front, lined by jungle ditch and overlooks an empty field backed by forest. Pretty private and pleasant!
Other things to note
I’m sorry to say we have strong Pet allergies. I had to give away my cat because its getting worse, and now I know I can’t upholstery clean the furniture and the carpets between guests if they have pets!

I enjoyed my stay while visiting Charleston. The location was close to the beach and downtown area. Susan’s place was very clean and just as described.

I met up with my sister for a week at Susan’s place. It is a beautiful upstairs apartment above Susan’s living space. The property is quiet and peaceful with amazing trees and a grassy back yard. FYI there are about 20 exterior stairs that lead up to the space. I wished my suitcase wasn’t so heavy. We both cook so the kitchen is important. All the basics are there but you’ll need to bring any oil, seasonings, and condiments you need. Both beds are comfortable, everything is super clean, and the high ceilings and wall of windows out onto the covered deck gives tons of light. Folly beach is close and beautiful and the location is a great jumping off place to other sights around Charleston. Susan is friendly and promptly available for questions. We had a lovely time!
Susan and her place were both lovely! She was great at communicating key features of the property and quick to respond to my questions. The place was exactly as described and close to everything we were looking for!
